Karachi Kings, Quetta Gladiators to Open 2021 Edition HBL PSL 6 Schedule Announced

The long-awaited Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2021 schedule has been announced, according to which the first match will be held on February 20 at the National Stadium in Karachi.

The Pakistan Cricket Board, in a statement on Friday, said that the Karachi Kings will start from where they ended their successful PSL 2020 campaign, by taking on 2019 champions Quetta Gladiators in the opening match at the National Stadium on February 20.

The tournament will last just over a month and will conclude on March 22, with its finale at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.

Due to the current coronavirus situation, only Karachi and Lahore will host the matches, while Rawalpindi and Multan, who had hosted matches at PSL 2020, will be lost this time.

“We had to make the difficult decision to limit the matches to Karachi and Lahore, and this decision has been made in the general interest of the event, the participants and the country,” said PCB (Commercial) Director Babar Hamid.

“We want to limit unnecessary exposure to players as much as possible in practice so that players can operate in a safe and healthy environment,” he added.

“The crowds in Multan and Rawalpindi were incredible last year and we owe them a huge thank you for your contribution to making HBL PSL 2020 a resounding success. I am sure that when life returns to normal, the two cities will get their share of matches, as the PCB remains committed and determined to host HBL PSL matches in as many places as possible, “said Hamid.

Tournament divided into two stages
Regarding the itinerary, the tournament has been divided into two stages: the first in Karachi that will begin on February 20 and end on March 7, and the second in Lahore that will begin on March 10 and conclude with the final on March 22. March.

In total, 34 games will be played during PSL 2021.

Whether or not fans will be allowed inside the stadium will be decided at a later date and will depend on the COVID-19 situation in the country.

“COVID-19 is an evolving situation, a decision will be made closer to time, although the event organizers are continuously monitoring the situation and remain in close contact with interested government officials,” the PCB press release said.
